Frequently Asked Questions

Maxis SMS Sender ID Change

Version Date: 16th January 2026

  • Starting 30 Jan 2026, Maxis SMS will show as "80XXX MAXIS" (e.g., 80100 MAXIS) instead of

    "Maxis"

  • This government (MCMC) requirement helps:

    • βœ… Stop fake messages pretending to be Maxis
    • βœ… Make real messages easier to spot
    • βœ… Protect you from SMS scams
  • Only the sender’s name changes:

    • πŸ“¬ Same account alerts (bills, data usage)
    • πŸ’Œ Same promotions and offers
    • ⏱️ Same message frequency
The content inside messages stays identical.

  • ALWAYS check the sender’s name:

    • πŸ” Maxis: Must include numbers + "MAXIS" (e.g., 80200 MAXIS)

    Real messages WILL NEVER:

    • ❌ Ask for your password or full IC number
    • ❌ Demand instant payment via unofficial links
    • ❌ Threaten immediate disconnection
  • If you see messages claiming to be from us but with different sender names:

    1. πŸ›‘ DON'T click links or reply
    2. πŸ“² Forward to MCMC's scam hotline: 15888
    3. πŸ“ž Report to Maxis
