Maxis SMS Sender ID Change
Version Date: 16th January 2026
-
Starting 30 Jan 2026, Maxis SMS will show as "80XXX MAXIS" (e.g., 80100 MAXIS) instead of
"Maxis"
-
This government (MCMC) requirement helps:
- β Stop fake messages pretending to be Maxis
- β Make real messages easier to spot
- β
Protect you from SMS scams
-
Only the senderβs name changes:
- π¬ Same account alerts (bills, data usage)
- π Same promotions and offers
- β±οΈ Same message frequency
The content inside messages stays identical.
-
ALWAYS check the senderβs name:
- π Maxis: Must include numbers + "MAXIS" (e.g., 80200 MAXIS)
Real messages WILL NEVER:- β Ask for your password or full IC number
- β Demand instant payment via unofficial links
- β Threaten immediate disconnection
-
If you see messages claiming to be from us but with different sender names:
- π DON'T click links or reply
- π² Forward to MCMC's scam hotline: 15888
- π Report to Maxis
