- 5G (NSA – Non-Standalone) is built on existing 4G infrastructure. It offers faster speeds and better performance as compared to 4G, making it ideal for everyday mobile use such as streaming, browsing, and social media.
- 5G Pro (SA – Standalone) is powered by a dedicated 5G core network. This allows for even faster speeds, ultra-low latency, higher reliability, and support for advanced features like network slicing and real-time data transmission. It’s designed for next-generation experiences such as cloud gaming, smart automation, AR/VR, and mission-critical business applications.

To use Maxis 5G Pro, you need:
- A 5G SA SIM card
- A 5G-compatible handset that supports Standalone (SA) technology
- An active Priority Pass subscription. For more details on Priority Pass, including how to subscribe and eligible plans, please refer to the Priority Pass.
- A compatible 5G SA handset with updated 5G SA software. List of supported handsets is available here.

Your phone's signal indicator will display will show “Maxis 5G Pro” when you are connected.

If you are in an area without Maxis 5G Pro network coverage, your device will automatically switch to the best available network, such as 4G LTE, to ensure you remain connected without interruption.

If you are temporarily lose connection to the Maxis 5G Pro network, your device will automatically switch to the best available network, such as 4G LTE, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity. Once Maxis 5G Pro network coverage is available again, your device will seamlessly reconnect.

Yes, you can continue to enjoy 4G services without upgrading to the Maxis 5G Pro. Your existing 4G connectivity will remain available as usual.
