General 5G Network

  • The 5G network will be launched on 15 August 2023 at limited areas.

  • 5G offers increased speeds and lower latency connections to the internet. You may refer https://www.maxis.com.my/en/about-maxis/5g-network/ for more details 5G usage.

  • All Maxis Business Postpaid customers on following rate plans:

    • Maxis Business Postpaid 38, 48, 68, 98, 108, 128, 158 and 188 with Maxis 5G pass
    • The new Maxis Business Postpaid 48, 79, 109, 139, 169 and 199
    • Maxis Business Postpaid 58, 78, 488 with Maxis 5G pass
  • You need to ensure that you are on 5G modem and within a 5G coverage area. To check 5G availability, click here.

  • You can still enjoy and stay connected on our 4G network.

  • Yes, you will be able to enjoy 5G while roaming in select countries if you have the following:

    1. Currently on our new Maxis Business Postpaid plans or signed up for our 5G pass on any of our eligible rate plans;
    2. Purchased a data roaming pass in a 5G enabled roaming country, check here.
    3. 5G capable device. For a list of 5G capable devices please check here;
    4. 4G LTE SIM. To check, just dial *100*8*5# from your phone and;
    5. Have 5G settings enabled on your device.
  • Please ensure that you have:

    1. Currently on our new Next Gen Maxis Business Postpaid plans or signed up for our 5G pass on any of our eligible rate plans;
    2. Purchased a data roaming pass in a 5G enabled roaming country, check here.
    3. 5G capable device. For a list of 5G capable devices please check here.
    4. 4G LTE SIM. To check, just dial *100*8*5# from your phone and;
    5. Have 5G settings enabled on your device.
  • Once you have:

    1. Signed up for our 5G pass on any of our eligible rate plans or subscribe to eligible plans – This need to revise as there is a pass and plans.
    2. 5G capable device. For a list of 5G capable devices please check here.
    3. 4G LTE SIM. To check, just dial *100*8*5# from your phone.
    4. Have 5G settings enabled on your device.
  • No. You can connect to 5G network if you are using 4G LTE SIM.  

  • Yes, you may switch on 5G on your eSIM and enjoy 5G connectivity.

  • No, MSIMs are not supported on 5G.

  • No, 5G does not cause any incremental data usage, however you will be able to download and upload at faster speeds.

  • When you are in a 5G coverage area, you will be able to connect to 5G, please ensure that you:

  • There is no speed cap, 5G is expected to be much faster than 4G while offering lower latency and better bandwidth. Data limit is as per the data allocation according to your rate plan.
