Frequently Asked Questions

International Roaming

Before Roaming

  • Maxis International Roaming is a service that enables your Maxis Mobile Business Postpaid to maintain seamless connectivity for calls, SMS and data while you are abroad.

  • International Roaming connects you to mobile providers that have an agreement with Maxis (Maxis roaming partners). You can make/receive calls, SMS and use mobile data in most countries.

    • Activation & Access: No activation or access charges. Roaming stays active once enabled.
    • Calls: Making and receiving calls are chargeable pay-per-use.
    • SMS: Receiving SMS is FREE. Sending SMS is chargeable.
    • Data Roaming: Various data roaming passes available. Click here for more details.
    • Call Forwarding/Voicemail: Forwarded calls and voicemail are charged as received calls while roaming. Recommended to turn off before travelling.
  • Do ensure that International Roaming is activated for your Maxis Business Postpaid line, please check with your company's Person in Charge (PIC) and have them activate it via the Maxis Business Hub

  • Maxis provides a range of roaming data passes. The type of passes available differs by country. Refer to the Maxis roaming partners and available services list on the website here.

    1. Ensure International Roaming service is active (verify on Maxis Business Hub via your Company's PIC)
    2. Check service types and rates for destination country; subscribe to a data roaming pass in advance. Learn how to schedule your pass here.
    3. Check device compatibility with destination network (e.g., Australia requires 4G/5G VoLTE devices)

Note: Some areas may have roaming limitations (e.g., border areas in Thailand; Jammu & Kashmir and Assam in India).

  • Flights: Only certain Maxis Business Data Roaming Passes cover in-flight connectivity. Keep Data Roaming OFF or enable Airplane Mode to avoid unexpected charges.

Cruises: Device may auto-connect to roaming partners in multiple countries (including background app updates), leading to unplanned charges. Keep Data Roaming OFF when not needed.

Passes: Check if all countries on your cruise/layover route are covered by your pass. Purchase additional 1-Day passes for uncovered countries.

  • Singapore has recently upgraded its 5G networks. This has affected 5G roaming availability for some operators, including us.

  • Yes, your roaming service will continue to work as usual. If 5G is unavailable, your phone will automatically connect to 4G/LTE where coverage is available.

  • This is due to recent network changes in Singapore affecting 5G roaming support. It is not related to your device.

  • No changes are required. Your current SIM, device, and roaming plan will continue to work as usual.
